Garage Door Bounces Back Open

Your garage door sensor works by having two photo sensitive devices on either side of the garage door.

The measurement is used to reset the up limit switch on your garage door opener. Sometimes the sensors will be in alignment and just as the door gets close to being shut it will vibrate enough to push one sensor off. You push the button to close the garage door. Turn the down limit switch screw clockwise one turn with a flat blade screwdriver if the garage door closes and then begins to open back up.

The garage door will automatically go in reverse. This is almost always the result of a dirty or obstructed safety feature. When the garage door opens about halfway or 5 feet from the ground and stops the up limit switch needs to be adjusted. Does your garage door opener stop and reverse.

Check to be sure these two sensors on either side of your garage door. You want the one on the left. It goes partway down reverses direction and goes back up again. Turn it one complete turn clockwise.

A careless or rushed parking job can cause the car s bumper to block the sensor. In order to fix this you ll want to make small changes to the close limit setting until the door opener knows to stop once the door has reached the floor. Maybe you have to hold the garage door button down for the door to close. Get logic board replacement.

If these can t see each other when the door is almost shut it will send a signal to the garage door motor to open back up. If your garage door is closing fully and then reversing to open again then it may be due to a problem with the close limit switch. Open the garage door and watch it closely as it opens. If you garage door is lowering then reversing back to the open position there could be something obstructing the sensors.

When the logic board wears out it can cause your garage door to close then open and vice versa without explanation. Try the door and if it still re opens turn the same dial another complete revolution. Measure the height where the door stops while it is being opened. The two dials may have a picture of a house with a garage door next to them.
